1.6 Tool Profiles for Thread Production
INTRODUCTION Tool profiles for thread production can be divided into three main types: full profile, partial

profile, and multi-tooth.

Full Profile

Tools belonging to this group are designed to produce a full profile of the requested thread.
Each full profile thread tool is suitable for a specific thread profile and pitch only. Full profile
tools are recommended for mass production.

Advantages of Full Profile Tools
• Finish the thread in one operation
• Bigger corner radius means better tool life

• Ensures correct depth of thread
• No deburring

Disadvantages of Full Profile Tools
• Cutting edge is suitable for the relevant thread profile and pitch only
• Requires a wider variety of items in the workshop
