When hip replacement surgery is required the
stem implant is inserted into the natural thigh
bone and part of the hip replacement set which
includes the stem, ball, and socket which allow
the leg to rotate and move forward, backward,
and sideways.
The stem is typically fabricated from
titanium or cobalt-chrome-based alloys.
