Incorrect Thread Profile Cause USER GUIDE THREADING
• Unsuitable threading profile Solution
• Incorrect center height • Adjust to correct tool, anvil, and insert
• Incorrect pitch in the program • Adjust center height
• Change the program
Broken Nose During 1st Pass • Cutting edge too cold • Reduce RPM
• Depth of cut too large • Reduce depth of cut/Increase
• Wrong grade
• Wrong turned dia. prior to threading number of infeed passes
• Incorrect center height • Use tougher grade
• Infeed depth too shallow • Check turned dia.
• Wrong inclination anvil • Adjust center height
• Tool overhang tool long • Change depth of cut
• Reselect anvil
• Reduce tool overhang /
Use Anti-vibration bar
Poor Surface Finish • Wrong cutting speed • Increase/reduce RPM
• Excessive heat in cutting zone • Reduce depth of cut
• Poor chip control • Modify flank infeed
• Inadequate coolant supply • Apply coolant
• Wrong inclination anvil • Reselect anvil
• Tool overhang too long • Reduce tool overhang
• Incorrect center height • Check center height
Poor Chip Control • Excessive heat in cutting zone • Reduce RPM /change depth
• Wrong grade of cut /check turned dia.
• Inadequate coolant supply
• Wrong turned dia. prior to threading • Use coated grade /check turned
• Incorrect method of infeed dia./use M/B-Type inserts
• Apply coolant
• Check turned dia.
• Modify flank infeed 3-5°
